Like my dad, I am a small town guy who grew up on Sullivan, Indiana. I graduated from Sullivan High School, DePauw University, and the University of Illinois. I served with the CIA in various foreign assignments from 1996-2009.
My dad joined the Air Force in 1943, and at less than 20 years old, my dad was a pilot, flying over “The Hump” during World War II–one of the most dangerous airlifts in the war. More than 1600 pilots lost their lives there.
Before she passed away, my mother gave me the letters he had written her during the war and asked that I “do something with them.” This book is the result.
